Dr. Gassman is an Associate Professor at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) in the Division of Leisure, Youth and Human Service’s Division. She is the Campus Executive Director of the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance and also serves as the Administrative Fellow for Community Engagement at UNI. Dr. Gassman has taught in the area of nonprofit management for the past eighteen years, is the author/co-author of five books and has numerous publications in the area of nonprofit management and youth development. Julianne worked with Camp Adventure™ Child &Youth Services for almost 25 years serving in Japan, Germany, Okinawa, Hawaii, in Europe supervising over 400 students. For many years she managed all the contracting and invoicing of approximately $4.5 million annually. Her research interests include nonprofit management, service-learning, and impacts of community engagement. Julianne spends her free time with her husband and four children and enjoys cycling, golfing and traveling.
Prior to joining LeaderFit, Renee spent 6 years at Community Wealth Partners, a social sector consulting firm, overseeing client engagements with a core focus on strategy design and implementation and collaboration. Clients included organizations such as KaBOOM!, Aligning Forces for Quality (a Robert Wood Johnson Initiative), Share Our Strength, Higher Achievement, Miriam’s Kitchen and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
Earlier in her career, Renee consulted with Fortune 500 companies on governance issues prioritized by executive boards and activist shareholders to advance governance practices and was with Edelman Public Relations’ Corporate Social Responsibility practice where she focused on building public-private partnerships for clients and developing thought leadership for the practice.
Renee currently serves on the board of Miriam’s Kitchen and is a 2015 Presidio Institute Cross Sector Leaders Fellow. She has an MBA from Georgetown University and a BA with honors from the University of Florida.
